I have one and sure hope she gets as big as these!
she wont its only boys that get big!
how old is your cat?
Not sure if this was directed at me, but sadly, I do not have a maine coon. not yet at least!
can i have them ?i live in malaysia , ill take good care of it !
I have a female who seems to be half maine coon that we have be told and she is very loving one minute and attacks us the next! is there anything we can do?
Are these pictures real, or is it trick photograph? I am in shock! I love cats. But I can't believe they could get this big. Brother. What a surpirse! My cats are black and white the usual size. I adore them so much. But one gets a little bitty occasionally. I would be terrified if they were this size. The owners should SHOW these cats for a price!
I ahve a main coon too but he is not nearly as large as these cats here! He does the same thing to us -loving one minute than biting us the next for apparently no reason at all...
i rescued a kitten that almost died on my doorstep. the previous owner bought him when he was three weeks old. WAY TOO EARLY TO TAKE HIM AWAY FROM HIS MOTHER! he had conjunctivitis, respiratory infection, ringworm, and was severely emaciated. spent three paychecks just nursing him back to health. i am happy to say that Paul is a healthy and happy cat now. i however did not realize he was a mainecoon! he is 8 months old and the size of a regular house cat!
@carol, these are real photos. maine coons are giant cats!
Yes they are giant, I have a female, she is big and gorgeous!!!
we have what we believe is at least a Maine coon mix if not a full blooded Maine coon. that a neighbors friend found roaming. we got him when he was 5 months and only 5lbs. he is now 6 months 10lbs, and his body has more than doubled. he is only 3 lbs less than our other male cat that is a year older. his paws are huge and they aren't done growing and he hasn't even grown into them. but we love him to death! he makes us laugh every day!
your a fag
how can you tell if your cat is a mainecoon? i got a kitten 5 months ago & she is already the size of our 2 year old house cat, she has long hair & very soft fur. and her paws are way bigger then our regular cats. is she a mainecoon?
They don't meow, instead make peep sounds...
Not True. I had 2 purebred Main Coons. They both meowed. The only way to be sure is to know where they came from, as there are several breeds with similar characteristics - Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, and Siberian Forest Cat. These each developed independently, but have similar body, size, and fur. However, the Maine Coon is the most common of these, so it is the one you most likely have.Maine Coons are usually large (my females were 15.5 and 18 pounds, males can be 25), have 2 layers of fur (soft under fur and longer outer fur), large plumes of a tail, and friendly, often gentle personalities. They grow for 2.5-3 years, occasionally longer. They are often quite vocal.
Is there a breeder that you recommend?
It took me 1.5 years to find out my cat spicies by one Vet that finally knew I have Maine Coon cat mixed with something (this spicies are very rare in Israel. Her name is Pur-el & she is 1.5 years old female. her weight is 6.200 kg & she is gorgeous. Look for me on facebook & you will be able to see her. Talia Alvares-Vega
Ya big main coon
I love your site. I have owned Maine Coons for ten years now. My male Maine Coon, Raziel, is the biggest. Was 22 lbs at one point, but as he's gotten older he's dropped down to 18.5 lbs and settled out there. I adore my big boy!!
wow.... u have a very cute maine coon... so cute
I have a Maine Coon and He is 3yrs oldalmost 20 pounds and has 2 more yrs to grow. Boudreaux is massive and the sweetest soul I have ever had.
Not fake, mine weighs 21 lbs is 3 years old and still growing.
I have a 10.5 black maine coon in west end toronto, ontario, that needs a home. I have just had a baby and he is really acting out where I am concerned for the baby. Please help. I do not want to take him to a shelter.
red edie we had the same problem when me and my wife got together and also when the kids arrived. but he soon got over it, now he protects the kids from the dog. unreal to watch a guard cat at work.
I have 2 mainecoons they are 1 years old and one of them is huge already i would say he will be as big as these as he grows up, they are beautiful cats and very loving :)
Wow, that's a lot of meat on those cats!I'm getting hungry looking at them.
We are considering getting a Maine Coone but The males seem so big that I would worry about letting them out in case they get stolen or scare the neighbours as they look like some kind of wild cat. Do any owners have this problem? We would love one but would hate to keep it as a house cat. We live on the edge of a forest and I think it would be a shame for it to be unable to go out.
Mine have always been indoor although I did use an outside dog lead on one of mine if I knew he was safe from dogs. They tend to not be cheap so I wouldn't trust letting them run free bc of risk of sickness or getting stolen from someone who recognizes the breed, or from other animal attacks. Indoor pets and ones supervised when outside tend to live longer for that reason
First picture is fake. You can tell by the size of the eyes relative to the body as seen with most giant animals. No cats eyes should be larger than a human eye no matter how big it is its obviously resized.Compare it to the second picture.
its no fake you muppet check wikipedia you ignorant oaf
i have a stray one that appears to have taken to my house. Big cat and I don't even thinks full grown yet. I only say that because it has some huge paws...figuring he will grown into them.
Well I think we are very lucky because we had one join us as she was a stray, she doesn't meow as such more like a bird cheep noise and she has paws like the cat in the first picture, with little tuffs of fur between her toes and pads. We were convinced she was a Norwegian Forest cat but now not so sure. She can be very loving and very aloof depends on her mood at the time. She has beautiful fur and is a similar colour to the cat in the first picture.
I had a boy who was 18 pounds, I have a girl now who's only 9 weeks so she can get to anywhere between 10 to 18, Her parents are pretty big. Girls will very rarely break 20 pounds though, it's the boys who get that big but even the boys don't necessarily make it to 20 pounds. I'm surprised at anyone having one that has anger issues, I've had three from three different breeders and they have always been very smart and big cuddlebugs. I've taught mine to sit, fetch, and use a dog leash outside.
Oh and mine have always been great with other animals and my kid (well except bugs and mice, they are good hunters). My kid used to use my male as a pillow. He would cry out to me for help if she was being too rough.
Aww that is so cute
Can somebody tell me are they low in Fel D1 protein, I am allergic and I love cats, I would like to have one but I am not sure if I can.
